Douglas H. Seggelin, 67, died Wednesday March 7th in the Tufts New England Medical Center, after a short illness. He was the husband of Lois (Townson) Seggelin of Whitman.
Born in Quincy, grew up in Braintree, he was the son of M. Virginia (Babin) Seggelin and the late Lawrence H. Seggelin.
Doug was a resident of Whitman for 46 years
He was a graduate of Braintree High Class of 1958 also, a graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in Engineering.
He served in the United States Navy 1958-1960.
Doug worked as an Electrical Engineer at Bethlehem Steel in Quincy, Honeywell, in the Research+Development Department and retired from Lexicon as the manager of Engineering Technical Services in 1998, after retirement he became an assistant at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, in Whitman.
He was a Ham radio enthusiast, interested in all sciences, especially computers. He also ran 2 marathons; the Ocean State Marathon and the Foxboro Marathon.
In addition to his wife Lois, he is survived by his son Charles Seggelin and his wife Patricia of Fitchburg; his daughter Donna Cokely and her husband Arthur of Easton; his mother M. Virginia(Babin)Seggelin of Norwell; his brothers Richard Seggelin of Halifax, Paul Seggelin of Florida and Braintree, Lawrence Seggelin of Quincy; his sisters Linda E. Seggelin of Scituate, Anna May Birtwell of Norwell and Joan Yeomans of Capitan, New Mexico; 2 granddaughters Natalie Rose Cokely and Lynnea Abrielle Seggelin; also several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held Monday March 12th at 9:15 AM, from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle)Whitman, followed by a funeral mass in the Holy Ghost Church, School St., Whitman, MA, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph, MA. Visiting hours Sunday March 11th 2-6 PM.
