Obituary

Salem: Victor H. ‘Charlie’ Dion age 82 of Salem, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, March 7, 2007, at his home. He was the husband of Anita P. (Soucy) Dion, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Alexander and Arthemise (Roy) Dion. A graduate of Salem High class of ’42, he was a star pitcher for the school team, and following his graduation played in the semi-pro league. A veteran of World War II he served stateside with the Army. Following his tour of duty, ‘Charlie’ returned to Salem and drove the Winchester, Woburn & Stoneham route for Hathaway Bread Co., which later became the Bond Bread Co. He left his driving route after 38 years and for the next ten years worked at Salem State College in the maintenance department. He retired in the mid 1990’s
Vic was an avid ball player for most of his life and umpired for the Salem Little League for over 20 years. He was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish and bowled for the Holy Name Bowling League for many years. He and his wife were currently members of Ste. Anne Parish of Salem.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons: Ronald R. Dion & his wife Patricia A. of Swampscott, Thomas V. Dion & his wife Anna Milena of Milford, a daughter Deborah J. Dion of Salem, 2 sisters: Claire Belleau & Jeannine Loranger both of Warren, PA, 2 grandsons: Tyson & Todd Dion both of Swampscott. ‘Charlie’ is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers: Lionel & Alexander Dion and his sister Lucienne Tremblay.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 8 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Salem at 9 am. Visiting hours: Friday 5 to 8 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ste. Anne Parish, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem, MA 01970
