WORCESTER-Mary E. (Kleiza) Buell, 86, died Tuesday, March 6th at home surrounded by her family. Her husband, Oland A. Buell died in 1963. She leaves two sons, John T. and his wife Elizabeth Buell and James R. Buell; two daughters, Janice L., wife of Arthur Orsi and Joanne M. Gray all of Worcester; a sister, Anne (Kleiza) Nugent of Leicester; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, John, Charles and Frank Kleiza; two sisters, Statia Haag and Sophie Prevett predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Charles and Josephine (Buracyk) Kleiza. Mary was the first female mechanist at Norton Company in Worcester and entered the US Women Marines in April of 1941. She served as an aircraft mechanic until discharge in 1943 as Staff Sergeant. Mary enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also a great sports enthusiast and never missed her son's football, basketball or baseball games.
The funeral is Thursday, March 8th with a service at 10:00 AM in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 7th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
