ANDOVER – Dennis F. McCarthy age 94 of Andover died at his home on Sunday March 4, 2007. He was the beloved husband of the late Alice G. (Redmond) McCarthy. His wishes were fulfilled, dying peacefully in his home.
Dennis was born on May 15, 1912 in Lawrence, MA. He was the son of Dennis A. and Agnes (Maguire) McCarthy. He attended St. Rita’s and St. Mary’s Elementary Schools, graduated from Lawrence High School, and attended Lowell Technology Institute. Dennis worked for Eastern Massachusetts Street Railway and the MBTA, as coordinator for the school busing program in Lowell. He loved his job, the people and the children he serviced. His enjoyments were his family, the beach, sailing and telling stories. He was a communicant and founding member of St. Robert’s Church in Andover. He was a devoted, caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Freije and leaves his sister Ruthmary Bushnell of North Andover.
He leaves five children, Denise P. McCarthy of Andover, June L. Blake of Sanbornton, NH, Karen L. West of Lynn, Kevin R. McCarthy of Lawrence and Brian F. and his wife Cathy (Hackett) McCarthy of Haverhill, MA.
He also leaves his 10 grandchildren, David Blake of Amesbury, Jessica Blake of Londonderry, NH, Jennifer and Robert Kenny of Andover, Matthew Blake of Los Angeles, William and Kathleen West of Danvers, Thomas and Laurie West of Bedford, NH, Nathaniel and Sinath West of Litchfield, NH, Caitlin, Kevin and John McCarthy of Methuen. 7 very cherished great-grandchildren, Timothy and Ethan West of Danvers, Brianna and Kylie West of Bedford, NH, Evelina West of Litchfield, NH and Robert and Sean Kenny of Andover.
12 nieces and nephews and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorials can be made to St. Robert’s Bellarmine Church 198 Haggetts Pond Road Andover, MA 01810 Family and friends may call on Thursday from 3:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. at Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00a.m. at St. Robert’s Bellarmine Church 198 Haggetts Pond Road in Andover, MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Tewksbury, MA.
