Obituary

Worcester—Raymond H. Bergman, Sr., 86, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, in the Lutheran Home. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Barbara L. (Berglund) Bergman; three sons, Raymond H. Bergman, Jr., of Holden, John L. Bergman of Hyannis, and Dana M. and his wife Irene, of Worcester; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. Raymond was born in Worcester, son of John and Anna (Johnson) Bergman and attended Commerce High School. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre with the 389th Infantry Regiment. He was a supervisor at Norton Co., Plant 6. He was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church and its church council. In addition, he served as Property Committee Chairman and church sexton for many years. As a younger man, he was involved in the Boy Scouts and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. In his later years he enjoyed the Red Sox and reading.

A Memorial Service will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Monday, March 12, 2:30 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 41 Whitmarsh Ave., Worcester or the Lutheran Home, 26 Harvard St., Worcester.
