Peter Davidopoulos, 57, of New Bedford died March 2, 2007 unexpectedly due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was the husband of Joyce M. (Daigle) Davidopoulos.
Born in Athens, Greece, the son of the late Xhristos and Zafira (Mavromati) Davidopoulos, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Davidopoulos was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and served as a Past President of the Parish Council.
He was the proprietor of Gourmet Grieko in Marion and previously owned and operated Sassaquin Pizza and Pete's Canteen. He was well known in the Greater New Bedford Area.
Mr. Davidopoulos was a member of The Star in the East Lodge A.F. & A.M.
Survivors include his wife; 5 sons, Christos Davidopoulos of Somerville, Paul Davidopoulos, and his wife Courtney and their son Noah, all of Lowell, Andrew, Alexander and Nickolas Davidopoulos, all of New Bedford; a daughter, Zafira Davidopoulos of New Bedford; a sister, Barbara Davidopoulos of Somerville; a niece, Despina Spiliotis of Somerville.
He was the father of the late Maria Davidopoulos.
His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 6th at 10 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, March 5th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to his family to establish a benefit for his young children.
