Obituary

Francis E. "Franny" Dacey of Charlestown and formerly of Somerville and South Boston, died on Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at the Brockton Veterans Administration Medical Center in Brockton after a long a valiant battle with colon cancer. He was 49 years old.

Franny was born in Boston on November 15, 1957. He grew up in Somerville where he attended St. Polycarp's Parochial School and then Somerville High School. Franny enlisted into the United States Army on January 2, 1975. He served his country with courage as a paratrooper and was discharged on December 13, 1978. Franny has been a member of the Iron Workers Union Local # 7 for the past 10 years.

Franny is the loving father of Erin M. McCallum of Winthrop and Lauren C. Contrada of Wilmington. He is the beloved son of Francis X. Dacey of Dorchester and M. Denise (Boland) McKenzie and her husband Michael of Somerville. He is the devoted brother of Kevin M. Dacey of Somerville, Carolyn Corbett and her husband Glenn of Billerica and Mary Trickett and her husband John of Groton. He is also the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Franny's Funeral will be held on Monday, March 5, 2007 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Franny will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2007, from 3 to 7 p.m. Burial will take place at the Veterans Administration National Cemetery, Bourne, at 1:15 p.m.
