WEBSTER – H. Rita Garvey, 88, of 4 Crosby Street, died Tuesday, February 27, at home after an illness.
She leaves nieces and nephews, including Catherine "Dolly" Coman of Nogales, AZ, Annemarie Garvey of Philadelphia and Elizabeth T. Garvey of New York City.
She was born in Webster, a daughter of Daniel and Catherine (Clifford) Garvey, and lived here all her life. She graduated from Saint Louis High School in 1935.
After retiring from Waite Hardware Co. as a bookkeeper, she worked at Graton and Knights in Worcester for 9 years, at Community Development in Webster for 8 years, and at Saint Louis Rectory for over 10 years.
She was an lifelong active member of Saint Louis Church and a member of the St. Louis League of Catholic Women.
The funeral will be held Monday, March 5, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake St. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. Calling hours are from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, March 4, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake St., Webster, MA 01570.
