John J. “Jack” Rabbitt, a retired Metropolitan Police Officer, died suddenly on Monday at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was75.
Jack was born and raised in Medford, the son of the late John and the late Delia (Furey) Rabbitt. After his service in the US Navy during the Korean War, Jack served on the Metropolitan Police Department for nearly thirty years.
He was the devoted father of John J. Rabbitt, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Winchester, James M. Rabbitt and his wife Cheryl of Medford, Brian M. Rabbitt and his wife Annmarie of Somerville. Loving grandfather to 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Dear long-time companion of Anne Silver. Former husband of Patricia (Gearaghty). Brother of the late Rosemarie Fischera.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
