TEWKSBURY - Gerturde (Saulnier) Howell, age 81, a former resident of Woburn, died
Thursday, Feb. 22, at Saints Medical Center in Lowell, following a long period of declining
health. She was the wife for 36 years of Fred Gilbert Howell, who died on October 27, 1999.
She was born in Woburn, May 2, 1925, a daughter of the late Edmund and Estelle (Pothier)
Saulnier, raised in Medford, and lived in Woburn from 1945 until 1998. In her later years, she
resided at The Pines assisted living center in Tewksbury for a decade before moving to the
Wingate nursing care center in Lowell.
She was employed as a secretary for the U.S. Government before her retirement.
She is survived by her brothers and sister, Dan Saulnier, Edward Saulnier, and Ann Gaudet all of
Meteghan, Nova Scotia, Canada; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her Funeral was held Friday morning, March 2, in the
funeral home. Burial was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials to
your local library fund are encouraged.
