Joseph J. Buchanio, 76 of North Attleboro and formerly of Franklin died February 25 in Harrington House in Walpole. He was the husband of the late Barbara (MacDonald) Buchanio who died in 1998.
Born in Milford, October 5, 1930, the son of the late John and Josephine (DeSantis) Buchanio, Mr. Buchanio was raised and lived in Franklin where he lived until moving to Carver where he lived from 1995 until 1999 when he moved to North Attleboro.
Mr. Buchanio had been a machinist for the Crosby Valve and Gage Company for 35 years before retiring.
Mr. Buchanio loved Cape Cod and the ocean and was his happiest when vacationing there with his family and friends.
He also was an ardent fan of the Boston Red Sox and N.E. Patriots.
He is survived by his sons, Matthew J. Buchanio and his wife, Pam of Plainville, Craig A. Buchanio and his wife, Dana of Hopedale and a daughter, Robin E. Rogers and her husband, Michael of Wrentham.
He is also survived by his brother John “Hot Dog” Buchanio of Franklin and sisters Joanne Yadisernia of Franklin, Andrea Tosches of Barnstable and Diane Perkins of Holiday, Florida and grandchildren, Allyson, Andrew, Ryan, Sean, Kyle, Christopher and Katie.
He was the brother of the late Lorraine MacDonald.
His funeral will be held on Friday, March 2 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main St. Franklin at 8:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
