Donald Archibald MacRitchie a resident of Southboro for over 40 years died on Friday, February 23 at the UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester. He was 92 years old. Born in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Angus J. and Mary Jane (Carmichael) MacRitchie. In his early years he worked in Northern Ontario and Quebec, Canada. Donald served overseas during World War II with the Canadian Armed Forces from 1944-1946. In 1949 he cane to Massachusetts where he spent the remaining years of his working life at the MAC-GRAY Company from which he retired in the late 1980’s. Donald was a longtime member of the Newton Presbyterian Church and was a member of United Brethren Lodge AF and AM. The beloved husband of the late Laura (Steeves) MacRitchie who died in 1998, he was the brother of the late Kenneth, Peter and Norman. Loving uncle of Sharon Boyer of Shrewsbury, Evelyn MacDonald and George MacRitchie both of Baddeck, Nova Scotia. Donald is also survived by two grandnieces, three grandnephews, a great grandniece, two great grandnephews and his caregiver Barbara Marhefka. A Funeral Service will be held at the Newton Presbyterian Church 75 Vernon St. Newton Corner on Wednesday Feb. 28th at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours in the Church on Wednesday from 10-11 prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Rural Cemetery in Southboro.
