TEWKSBURY: Dorothy F. (Arthur) Doherty, age 81, a resident of Tewksbury for over 53 years, died Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Academy Manor in Andover, following a lengthy illness.
She was the wife of William A. Doherty, who died May 11, 1977.
Born in Cambridge on December 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Catherine V. (Shinnick) Arthur.
Mrs. Doherty was raised in Cambridge and attended Cambridge schools.
Prior to her retirement in 1985, she was employed as a secretary in the guidance department at the Tewksbury Junior High School, where she worked for 30 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Catherine J. Ringwood and her husband Paul of Tewksbury; three sons; William A. Doherty, Jr. and his wife Beverly, Stephen J. Doherty and his wife Debbie all of Haverhill and Kevin R. Doherty and his wife Diane of Tewksbury; one sister, Mary E. Jones of Billerica; one brother, William Arthur and his wife Marion of Cambridge; thirteen grandchildren, Michelle and Kristin Roberts, Kelley-Ann and Scott Ringwood, Stephen J. Doherty, Jr., Christian and Danielle Doherty, Jessica True and her husband Christopher, Jennifer, Jamie, Shane, Cameron and Jared Doherty; 3 great grandchildren, Brianna Poliquin, Emily McLlarky and Delaney True; also several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours Sunday, February 25th, from , 6-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral service Monday, February 26th, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472 are requested.
