Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 8am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Joseph R. Dunphy, 92 years died Tuesday morning at BayPointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a brief illness. Born and raised in Brockton, he was a lifelong resident, son of the late George J. Dunphy and Sarah (Conefrey) (Dunphy) Howland. During the Depression he had to quit school to work and help support his family and in 1955 he entered night school to receive his High School diploma. He had been employed by White Brother Dairy in Braintree prior to opening his business, the Beacon Beauty Supply Company of Brockton which he ran for over 25 years. Following his retirement he enjoyed spending the winters in Lake Worth, FL. He had been a longtime communicant of St. Edward Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus and Bertocci Club. He enjoyed walking at Westgate Mall with the senior citizens group, playing cards and building and repairing things in his workshop at home.
He is survived by one daughter Elaine M. (Morrow) Anderson and her husband Warren of N. Easton, six grandchildren Marc Morrow of Florida, Matt Morrow of Quincy and Kathryn Morrow of Easton, Jessica Dunphy of Easton, Eric Dunphy of Raynham and Kristopher Dunphy of Brockton, several nieces and nephews., a stepbrother Corey Howland of Hanson and a brother in law of Alphonse Statkowski of Bridgewater. He was the husband of the late Eileen (Stutzkouski) Dunphy, father of the late Raymond J. Dunphy and brother of the late Doris Ostlund and Verna Matheson
