Obituary

Marie Alice DeYoung, 77 of Homosassa, FL, died Monday, February 19, 2007 in the Oak Hill Hospital, Brooksville, FL following a sudden illness. Mrs. DeYoung was born in Lowell, MA on May 16, 1929, a daughter of the late Frederick and Rose (Ritchotte) Kenneson. She was a resident of Homosassa for the past 10 years, formerly living in Yarmouth, ME and 25 years in Derry, NH. Mrs. DeYoung was a graduate of Waltham High School, Waltham, MA, class of 1947. She worked for Raytheon in Waltham, where she met her husband, Herman. She had also worked for 15 years as a receptionist and medical transcriptionist for Derry Medical Center. She was Past-President of the Women’s Club and a member of the Garden Club in Yarmouth. Mrs. DeYoung had also been Past-President of the Derry Junior Women’s Club and had been active in Girl and Boy Scouts. She was a former communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry, where she had been active teaching in their CCD program. When her children were younger she volunteered at their schools. Mrs. DeYoung enjoyed gardening, painting and crocheting and most importantly, her family.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Herman DeYoung of Homosassa, FL, three daughters, Sandra Tombari and her husband William of Derry, Cynthia Mitchell and her husband Eric of Bedford, NH, Denise Richard and her husband Michael of Madbury, NH, a daughter-in-law, Denise DeYoung-Champagne of Coral Springs, FL, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three sisters, Laura Webster of Reading, MA, Beverly Gorgone of Centerville, MA, Bertha Morrisroe of Homosassa, and by many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a son, Herman K. DeYoung in 1980, and by four brothers, Frederick, Donald, Robert and Norman Kenneson.

Visiting hours will be held 3-7pm Sunday, February 25, 2007 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 26, 2007 at 10:30am in Holy Cross Church, 187 Hampstead Rd., Derry. The burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc., Northeast Affiliate, 2 Wall St., Manchester, NH 03101.
