Roderick L.“Bud” Goe passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2007 following complications related to a stroke.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 55 years Maryann and three children and their families, Michael and his wife Barbara von Beust of Winterthur, Switzerland, Marie and her husband Thomas Olson, and their children Gavin and Darin of Ledyard, CT, and Bill of Kirkland, WA. He is survived by his mother, Vivian Patmore and his sister and brother-in-law Jacquie and Ed Bean of Cloverdale, CA, his brother Clarence Goe of Redcrest, CA, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father John Goe and stepfather William Patmore.
Bud was born in Redcrest, CA on December 7th 1929. He grew up in Holmes Flat, CA and graduated from Fortuna High School before enlisting in the US Navy. While stationed at San Diego he met and married Maryann Moyer on August 1st 1951. Bud served in the Korean Conflict where he received several commendations.
Bud worked on several farms in the Millbrook area before teaching Industrial Arts at Greer School in 1965. He started his own painting, floor and furniture refinishing business in 1970 and continued his passion for wood working long after retirement.
Bud’s life revolved around his family, friends and community. Bud was a Lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War. He was also a Lifetime member of the Lions Club and past president of the local chapter in Millbrook, NY.
A celebratory service will be held at the Lithgow Episcopal Church at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 3rd with a reception following.
