LAWRENCE – Robert P. Christensen, Sr. age 81 died Saturday February 10, 2007 at Lawrence General Hospital.
Born in North Andover, MA, he was educated at St. Patrick’s Grammar School in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School with the Class of 1944. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy stationed aboard the USS Hydrus. During his service he received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Area Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged with the rank Electrician’s Mate Third Class. For 37 years he was employed as a senior electronic technician with the Raytheon Company in Andover, MA.
He was a member of the Post 2104 VFW in North Andover, MA, the Disabled American Veteran’s of Lawrence, the Men of Saint Patrick’s, owned and operated the Morning Star Charter Boat where he loved to cruise.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Lillian G. (Lord) Christensen of Lawrence.
2 sons Robert P. Jr. and James B. and his wife Amy M. Christensen all of Lawrence.
1 daughter Ellen Marie Christensen also of Lawrence.
2 brothers Donald J. and his wife Mary Christensen of Lawrence and David J. Christensen, Sr. and his wife Marian of North Andover, MA.
1 sister Carolyn Ball of Lawrence, MA.
1 adopted grandson Victor Cancel of Lawrence.
Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert was predeceased by his bother and sister, Hans Christensen and Anna Carey.
ARRANGEMENTS: In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Michael’s Church 196 Main St., North Andover, MA 01845. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 2:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. and 6:00p.m. – 9:00p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00a.m. at St. Michael’s Church North Andover. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery also in North Andover, MA.
