Mrs. Virginia R. Hoey, age 81, died at home Monday evening, February 19, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Born in Medford, Virginia was the devoted daughter of the late Katherine (Murphy) & Joseph Egan.
Virginia was the beloved wife of the late Michael N. Hoey, who passed away in 1995. A lifelong Medford resident, she attended the St. Joseph Catholic School and was a member of the St. Francis Mother“s Club. Virginia summered on Plum Island, off Newburyports coast, in a house that her late husband Michael built. She was also a member of a thursday night card game for over 40 years. Most often Virginia just enjoyed her family, friends and especially her loving grandchildren.
In addition to her late parents and husband, Virginia is survived by her children, Michael Hoey of Plum Island, Tracy Kelly, Janyce Alves and her husband Michael all of Medford, Gael DeCologero and her husband Anthony of Stoneham. Also survived by 8 loving grandchildren and 2 loving great grandchildren. Sister of Richard Egan and Irene Weldon both of Florida, Gertrude Garvey of California, Joseph Egan of Georgia, Ruth Healy of Medford and the late Barbara Sullivan. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Thursday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 5 thru 9. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
