Bernard Bieszczad, 88, formerly of Dickson City, died Monday morning in the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Community Medical Center after a brief illness. His wife, Mary Hudak Bieszczad, died Jan. 7, 2005.
Born Oct. 31, 1918, in Olyphant, son of the late Andrew and Agatha Marc Bieszczad, he was a member of Holy Ghost Church, Olyphant. Before retirement, he was employed at Hemlock Farm Dairy and Pinkus & Sons Furniture Store, both of Olyphant.
He is survived by a son, Robert and wife, Mary, with whom he resided in Jessup; two sisters, Mary Bieszczad, Peckville; and Lillian Straka, Olyphant; and a brother, Fabian Bieszczad, Peckville.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Michael, and a sister, Genevieve.
The funeral will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30 in Holy Ghost Church, to be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas M. Muldowney, pastor. Interment, parish cemetery, Blakely.
