Obituary

Attilia “Tillie” (Gallo) Forrest, 92 of Walpole died February 18 in Caritas Norwood Hospital. She was the wife of the late Francis “Huck” Forrest.
Born in Walpole on June 28, 1914, the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Gallo, Mrs. Forrest was a lifelong Walpole resident.
Mrs. Forrest had worked in the Walpole school cafeterias for over 40 years before retiring.
She was a member of the Lend a Hand Club and the Italian American Club.
Tillie’s main passion and love was Walpole High School sports. She was the number one fan of the Walpole High School football team and never missed a game. For many years she would cook a spaghetti supper for the seniors, an event that was never missed.
In the years when her grandson, Adam played football for Xaverian Brothers High School, she worked around the situation by first going to part of the Walpole game and then hurrying over to see Xaverian and her grandson.When Adam went on to play football for Boston College, Tillie was there for every home game and brought enough food for everyone.
She adored and loved spending time with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they all loved to visit her and her famous Italian meals.
She is survived by her daughters Judith Santosusso of Norwood, Kathleen Moynihan of Walpole, Mary McQuaid of Fitchburg and Diane Newman of Dedham.
She is also survived by her brother Joseph Gallo and sister Nellie Gallo, both of Walpole, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She as the sister of the late Robert and Lucy Gallo, Rita Catenacci and Susan Villa.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday February 22 from the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main St., Walpole at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in South Walpole.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
