NORTH BROOKFIELD-Elizabeth (Thomas) Bailie, 53, of 157 School Street, died Sunday, February 18th, in her home. She leaves her husband, Gilbert H. “Gil” Bailie; her father, Toufe Thomas of Worcester; a step-son, Hunt Bailie of Sonoma, CA; and a step-daughter, Ana Bailie of Worcester. She was predeceased by her brother, Mitchell Thomas, in 1993.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Wadad (Joseph) Thomas and graduated from Doherty Memorial High School. Mrs. Bailie was a self-employed photographer. A deeply religious woman, she was a contemplative at heart who was deeply devoted to the monastic way of life, especially at St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer, where she attended Mass daily for most of her life. Mrs. Bailie was a published writer and poet.
The funeral is Thursday, February 22nd, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove, Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, February 21st, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, with a Rosary Service beginning at 5:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Abbey, 167 North Spencer Road, Spencer, MA 01562.
