Lois A. Masters, 80, of Derry, NH, died Friday, February 16, 2007, after a brief illness. She was born in Wilton, NH on September 6, 1926, the daughter of Alfred and Ethel(Broderick) Carrigan. She was raised in Wilton, where she attended local schools, and later in her life lived in Nashua, NH. She and her deceased husband, Edward Masters, founded and operated Masters Lodge in Warner, where they cared for many recovering alcoholics. While living in Nashua, she was employed by the Noyes Tire Company, where she became the first female manager of the company, in the State of NH. She excelled in her profession and won many awards. When she moved to Derry she worked at the Monadnock Tire Company. She was an avid reader and enjoyed writing poetry. She will always be remembered as a loving, humorous and strong spirited woman, who treasured the human mind.
Family members include her daughters, Virginia L. Drociak and her husband Thomas J. of Hooksett, NH, Melanie S. Nichols of Nashua, three granddaughters, Jennifer Drociak, Kristina Drociak and Jill Nichols, two grandsons, John Nichols and Jason Nichols. She is also survived by her sister, Lucille Adkins, of St. Pete, Florida and nieces, Diane Pomponi, Joanne Carrigan and a nephew, Martin Stanton.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
