James J. Cunningham 72, of Franklin , died Saturday February 17, 2007 at his home, following a long illness. He was for 52 years the devoted husband of Helena (Simarrian) Cunningham.
Born in Brookline, January 26, 1935 a son of the late James J. and Catherine (Naughton) Cunningham, he formerly lived in Millis and Jamaica Plain before moving to Franklin 9 years ago.
He was raised and educated in Boston, and retired from the Gamewell Company in Medway where he worked in maintenance. He also worked for more than 20 years as foreman for the William Carter Company, in Needham.
He enjoyed all sports, and was known for his knowledge of sport statistics, teams and events. He also enjoyed Jeopardy, and crossword puzzles.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a sister Kathleen Holden of Middleton, a niece Kellie McGonagle, RN of Ft. Myers, Florida, and 2 nephews Frank Cunningham of VA, and Sean Chandler of Humarock. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday February 20, 2007 at 11AM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. (www.oterifuneral.com).Interment will follow in the family lot in Union Street Cemetery, Franklin.
Calling hours are Monday February 19, 2007 from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
