Laconia-Ida Leona Collette, 90, formerly of 25 Union Avenue died on Friday evening, February 16, 2007 at St. Francis Healthcare Center after a brief illness.
Ida was the daughter of the late Alexander and Elvira (Beaupre) Collette. She was born in Erving, Massachusetts on April 29, 1916, and had been a lifelong resident of Laconia.
Prior to her retirement Ida worked at the former Laconia Needle Shop, and the Belknap Hosiery Mill. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Laconia, and a member of the Golden Age Club, a fire warden, and a volunteer all at the Sunrise Towers in Laconia, as well as a volunteer at the Belknap Mill in Laconia.
In addition to her parents, Ida is predeceased by her son, John Chapman who died in 2001, four sisters, and two brothers.
Ida is survived by three grandchildren; John Chapman of New Boston, New Hampshire, James Chapman of Florida, and Joy Krom of Daytona, Florida. Locally Ida is survived by one niece, Darlene Fitts of Sanbornton, and four nephews, Donald Morin and his wife Lorraine of Gilford, Michael Pelchat of Laconia, Edward Morin and his wife Ellen of Gilford, and Larry Collette and his wife Rhonda of Gilmanton. Four great-grandchildren as well as many other nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and grand nephews also survive Ida.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue Laconia at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Adrien R. Longchamps, pastor of the church celebrated the mass. Family and friends were invited to attend. Entombment followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel, Garfield Street, Laconia to await burial in the spring in the family lot. Visiting hours were Wednesday, February 21, 2007 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia.
