Hazel V. (Holmes) Hobson, 86, of Canterbury Woods, Attleboro formerly of Norton died on Saturday February 17, 2007 at the Life Care Center in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Jack H. Hobson who passed away in 1970.
Born in Norton, MA on December 14, 1920 she was a daughter of the late Lewis H. and Maude (Milliken) Holmes.
He grew up and was educated in Norton. She attended Atlantic Union College in Massachusetts. Mrs. Hobson was a retired secretary having worked in the Registrars Office at Wheaton College before retiring. She had formerly worked at the Wheaton College Book Store and when younger had been employed at the former Defiance Bleachery Co. in Norton.
Hazel had attended Faith Alliance Church in Attleboro and was a member of the Norton Historical Society. A devoted mother and wife she attended to the needs of her family, especially in the caring of her son. Until recently moving to Attleboro 3 years ago Hazel was a former lifelong resident of Norton.
She is survived by her devoted children; Susan C. Pfister of Wallingford, Conn., Jill Rillera of Hollywood, Florida and Jack Hobson of Attleboro. She was the sister of the late Arthur Holmes and Hollis Holmes. Also surviving are her dear grandchildren Jennifer Shattuck, Stephanie Epperson, Julie Hopkins and Joel Pfister as well her 5 great grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 20th at a time convenient to her family at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home in Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
