
Robert W. Godfrey, of Ft. Meyers, FL and East Falmouth formerly of Needham, a retired Asst. Advertising Manager for Star Market died suddenly February 13, 2007. He was 76.
Born and raised in Needham he played hockey and football for Needham High where he graduated 1949. He later graduated from New England School of Art. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was discharged as a Sgt. He had worked in advertising for Star Market for over 30 years. He had lived in East Falmouth for many years and had worked as a starter and ranger at the Willowbend Country Club in Mashpee. An avid sports fan especially the Patriots, Red Sox and BC, he had played amateur hockey. He enjoyed boating, golfing, fishing and was a gourmet cook. He was also a member of Norfolk Masonic Lodge of Needham and a longtime active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Needham. Beloved husband for 52 years of June E. (Martin) Godfrey, he is survived by his daughters Deborah E. Martell of Ashland, Lisa E. Labreche-Poitrast of Hopkinton and Susan E. Trotta of Wolfeboro NH, and his grandchildren Leslie, Christopher, Jennifer, Nathaniel and Emily. He was the father of the late William Douglas Godfrey and brother of the late Arthur Godfrey.
A funeral service will be held on Tues Feb 20 at 10 AM in Christ Episcopal Church 1132 Highland Ave NEEDHAM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Needham Cemetery. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham on Monday 4-7 PM.
