Obituary


Michael John McQuillan, age 47, of 19 George Avenue, Groton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Valentines Day, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital after being stricken.

Mike was born in New London on February 20, 1959 the son of Arthur and Jessie (Lee) McQuillan. Raised in North Stonington, he attended local schools.

A member of the Boilermakers Union, he was employed as a painter at Electric Boat. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and as a perfectionist. He was also an avid fan of the Oakland A’s and Miami Dolphins, and was known for his extensive sport memorabilia collection.

He is survived by his sons, Christopher Korytkowski of Boston, Michael John McQuillan Jr. and Thomas Benjamin McQuillan, both of Westerly; his siblings, Carol Caswell and her family with whom he made his home in Groton, Patrick McQuillan of Montville, Bobby McQuillan of No. Stonington, Susan D’Alessandro of Gales Ferry, and Peggy McQuillan of Jefferson City, TN, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Howlett.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Monday from 5-7pm. A Graveside Service will be conducted at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27, Mystic on Tuesday at 11am (everyone is to meet at cemetery).
