Natalie L. (Haigh) Lewis, 89, of Salem, NH died Monday at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH
Natalie was born in Methuen and was a lifelong Salem resident. She grew up in the same house on Lawrence Road where she later lived with her husband, Daniel F. Lewis, and where they raised two daughters, Gale and Faith. She was a clerk at Bill’s Market for many years where she worked in the Deli. Natalie was a member of the First Congregational Church in Salem. She was a volunteer for 10 years at Salemhaven, and continued to walk there from her home well into her late 70’s. She traveled extensively in retirement, including trips Hawaii and Alaska.
She also enjoyed antiquing and was a collector of thimbles and bunny rabbits. In recent years she especially enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren, now aged 3 and 2.
Natalie was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Daniel F. Lewis. She was also predeceased by longtime friend H. Louis Lion of Weare, NH, as well as her brother Melvin Haigh of Arlington, MA and her sister Elizabeth Haigh of Manchester, NH.
She is survived by daughters Gale and her husband Craig Smith of Salem, NH and Faith and her husband James Grant of Londonderry, NH. She is also survived by her grandsons Daniel Grant, who lives in Goffstown with his wife Chris, and Jamie Grant who lives in Amesbury with his wife Meg. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Jillian Natalie Grant and James Birk Grant
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 16 at 10 AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, Feb. 15 from 3-7 PM at the funeral home.
