Obituary

Eleanor F. (Borges) LaVache Hinchey a Needham resident for over 48 years died peacefully on Sunday, February 11th at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, with her children by her side. Born in Cambridge, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Richards) Borges. A Needham resident, since 1959, she raised her 7 children on Coulton Park before moving to Nehoiden Glen 28 years ago. An active longtime volunteer for the Needham Community Council, Eleanor received the Leslie B. Cutler Award for outstanding volunteer service from the Community Council in 2000. She was a former employee of the Needham Housing Authority. A bird lover, Mrs. Hinchey enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader of History and Mystery novels. The beloved wife of the late Francis LaVache and John A. Hinchey, she was the devoted mother of 6 daughters Jeanne Marie (LaVache) Messaline of Boston, formerly of Braintree, Janet M. (LaVache) Thompson of Hingham, Denise F. (LaVache) Karacius of Norwell, Charlene (Hinchey) Bonadies of Medfield, Patricia A. (Hinchey) Walsh of Taunton, Norma J. (Hinchey) of Daytona FL and one son John A. “Jack” Hinchey Jr. of Billerica. Sister of Barbara Measell of Texas and the late Loretta Macintosh, and Arthur Borges. Eleanor is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue Needham on Friday, February 16th followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Joseph Church. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. Following the interment a reception will be held Nehoiden Glen in Needham. In lieu of flowers donations in Eleanor’s name may be made to the Needham Community Council, 51 Lincoln St, Needham MA 02492.
