
Katherine Adele Hardy, 86 of Windham, NH, died Saturday, February 10, 2007 in the Maple Leaf Health Care Center, Manchester, NH. Mrs. Hardy was born in Galveston, TX on March 5, 1920, a daughter of the late Edward and Adele (Caplan) Parker. She was a resident of Windham for 3 years and was a former longtime resident of Derry, NH. She was raised by her grandmother from the age of 3 months because her mother died due to complications from her birth. Adele grew up in Texas and that is where her southern hospitality and outgoing nature began. In her younger years she was in the USO, loved to dance and enjoyed traveling. She even lived in Germany for a few years. After moving to Derry she worked for Walter Pillsbury for many years as a legal secretary and later for the State of NH Adult and Elderly Services for seven years, retiring when she was 67. Adele enjoyed spending her time visiting the elderly and helping the needy and truly enjoyed meeting new people. She will also be remembered for her sense of humor and the many clean jokes she knew. She was a founding and very active member of the Calvary Bible Church, Derry. She also enjoyed many other social activities as well as being with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Streez of Amherst, NH, two grandchildren, Christopher Kierstead of Londonderry, NH, Amy Jenkins of Seekonk, MA, two great-grandchildren, Katelyn Kierstead of Rock Hill, SC, Aiden Jenkins of Seekonk, two nephews, Sabin Feller of El Monte, CA, Wesley Feller of Lawrence, GA, and is also survived by all of her church family. She was predeceased by her husband, Leander E. Hardy III in 1990, a daughter, Kathy Jenkins in 1996 and a sister Nancy Feller.
Visiting hours were held from 4-8pm Tuesday, February 13, 2007 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 10:00am in the Calvary Bible Church, 145 Hampstead Rd., Derry. The burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Christian School, 145 Hampstead Rd., Derry, NH 03038.
