Obituary

Donald F. Leach, Jr., 75, died Friday at the Brockton Hospital intensive care unit after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Nan I. (Overhiser) Leach.
He was born in Brockton, son of the late Donald F. Sr., and Grace L. (Waugh) Leach.

He was a lifetime resident of Whitman, he attended Whitman Public Schools, Thayer Academy, graduated in 1949, Bryant & Stratton Commercial School, graduated in 1952 and Northeastern University, graduated in 1957.

Don worked at Jordan Marsh while attending Northeastern, also Pray’s Home Furnishings and Filenes.

He was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Whitman, also a member of the Whitman Historical Society.

He served on the Board of Trustees at the First Congregational Church of Whitman, and the Whitman Public Library for, over 30 years.

He is survived by his three daughters and their husbands Susan B. Moneypenny and her husband Mark D. of Pembroke, Cynthia C. Betters and her husband Jay M. of Marshfield, Sarah W. Furtado and her husband Michael L. of Plymouth; his brother Philip W. Leach of Whitman, two grandchildren Zachary J. and Carolyn L. Betters of Marshfield;, 1 niece and 1 nephew. He was also the brother of the late Ellsworth W. Leach.

His memorial service will be held on Sunday February 18th at 3:00 P.M. in the First Congregational Church, 519 Washington Street, Whitman, MA. 02382. Burial will be held on a later date. Donation may be made to the First Congregational Church 519 Washington Street, Whitman, MA. 02382 or the Whitman Public Library, Webster Street, Whitman, MA. 02382.
