Domenic F. Saraceno, a life long Medford resident, died Friday morning at Elmhurst Nursing Home, Melrose. He was 94.
Born in Cortale, Italy, the son of the late Domenick and Isabella, Domenic came to america when he was 8 years old. The family settled in Medford, where Domenic has lived ever since. He was a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy, proudly serving his country in World War II. Upon his return to civilian life, Dom operated Dom’s Sunoco on Medford for over 20 years. He then owned and operated a Getty station in Woburn for 20 years before his retirement. Dom lived his life well and was an example to many. Loved and respected by his family, friends and customers, Dom manged the demands of owning a successful business while keeping his family as his number one priority.
He was the beloved husband of the late Catherine (Welch) Saraceno. He was a devoted father to Domenic Saraceno and his companion Elizabeth of So. Hampton, NY, Thomas Saraceno and his wife Lisa of Groton, Catherine Alphen and her husband Christopher of Melrose, Pauline Sampson and her husband Henry of Medford. Dear father-in-law to Susan Saraceno. Loving grandfather to Domenic, Laura and her fiance Matthew, Katie and her fiance Anthony, Christopher and his wife Lisa, Elizabeth, Heidi, Taylor, Gregory and the late David. Loving great-grandfather to Lucy, David and Olivia. Dear uncle of Billy Vinci and Paul Crisostamo.
Dom’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8.
Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
