Mary (Morgan) Moore, 86, of Dartmouth passed away Friday February 9, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Thomas S. Moore.
Born in Bristol, RI, the daughter of the late Ralph and Sadie (Chaffee) Morgan, she spent her early years in Bristol and in the village of North Auburn, Maine. She moved to New Bedford during the 1930's and attended New Bedford Schools.
She was a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church.
During World War II, Mary worked for the Acushnet Process, trimming masks to ensure the safety of those who defended our nation. She later graduated from the New Bedford Beauty Academy as a cosmetologist and worked at Dell's Beauty Salon for more than 40 years.
She and her husband, Tom, were active members of the New Bedford Junior Chamber of Commerce during the 1950's.
Mary was a beloved and active member of her family, preferring to spend most of her time in the company of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed their musical talents and performances, celebrating each and every one with joy and love.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Sharon Scoggins, and her husband Shannon, of Largo, FL and Elaine Santos, and her husband August, of Dartmouth, with whom she lived; two brothers, Ralph Morgan of Northfield and Dr. Gordon Morgan of Ft. Pierce, FL; four grandchildren, Lori Cabral, and her husband Richard, Maureen Santos and Lauren Santos, all of Dartmouth and Lynne Molinary of Largo; four great-grandchildren, Franchesca Molinary, Joseph Cabral, Serai Jordan and Alexander Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dearest friend, Pelagia Fraczek of Rocky Hill, CT.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Monday, February 12th at 10 AM. Funeral Service in St. Martin's Episcopal Church at 11 AM. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, February 11th from 4-7 PM.
