Obituary

Paul E. Durand, 91, of Rathbun St, Woonsocket, died Tuesday at Pine Grove Health Center. He was the husband of the late Gertrude M. (Forcier) Durand.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Cyrille and Alice (Lebel) Durand. He was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Durand served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the European Theater and was awarded the European-African-Middle-Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the Victory Medal.
He worked for the Mark Stevens Co., the French Worsted Co. and the Boucier Bros. Moving Co. for many years before retiring in 1980.
Mr. Durand was a member of the Woonsocket AMVETS Post 7 and the Royal Travelers.
He is survived by a son, Ronald Durand, of Fla., two daughters, Lorraine Larose, of Mapleville, and Suzanne Therrien, of Woonsocket, a sister, Claire Laplante, of Woonsocket. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Roland, Maurice, Marcel, Lucien, and Leo Durand, and the late Germaine Blanchard, Therese Barras, Lucille Hebert, Yvette Harnois, and Gertrude Thibeault.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 9:00 am in All Saints Church, Rathbun St., Woonsocket. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours omitted. Please omit flowers. Visit www.fournierandfournier.com for guestbook and directions
