Obituary

WORCESTER___Joesph M. Guertin, 50, of 330 Sunderland Rd., died Saturday October 19, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, 55 Lake Ave., North.

He leaves his wife, Carolyn M. (Anish) Amsbaugh - Guertin; a son, William Amsbaugh of Boxborough; two daughters, Colleen and Jessica Guertin both of Worcester; his parents; George and Florence (Reidy) Guertin of Worcester; three brothers, George Guertin, Jr., of Holden; James and John Guertin both of Worcester; three sisters, Karen Walsh and Lynne Guertin both of Worcester and Susan Serrato of Paxton; a grandson, Ryan Porter and many nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester and lived here all his life.

Mr. Guertin was a national accounts coordinator for Saint-Gobain/Norton where he has worked for 30 years.

He was graduated from St. Johns High School and Becker College.

Mr. Guertin was a director of the Bob Farrell Softball League and was a member of USSSA Softball Umpires Association. He played softball for local and traveling teams. He was a stand out pitcher and received many softball awards. He was also a skilled hunter and fisherman.

He collected turkeys given to Norton Company employees every year and on his own time delivered them to shelters, soup kitchens and people in need in the area. He also ran a toys for tots donation program.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday October 23, from Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday October 22 from 5 to 9 p.m. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham. 01701.
