Ivan V. Szilassy, 89, of Medway, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Theresa (Bognar) Szilassy.
Born in Gyula, Hungary on July 22, 1917, he was a son of the late Geza and Katalin (Terenyi) Szilassy. Mr. Szilassy was a resident of Medway since 1960 and formerly resided in Roslindale.
A civil engineer for many years, he owned his own business for 20 years, working with his son, Ivan. He had previously worked at V.T.N., Inc. in Wilmington.
He loved to spend summers on Martha’s Vineyard and enjoyed working in his yard and garden.
Besides his wife, he is survived by; seven children, George Szilassy of Martha’s Vineyard, Peter Szilassy of Fredericksburg, VA, Kathleen Quiles of Hanover, Elizabeth Szilassy of Weymouth, Esther Silver of Portsmouth, NH, Agnes Szilassy of Medway and Ivan Szilassy.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held privately at St. Joseph’s Church in Medway. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
