Laverna E. Yarbrough Watson, 78, of Tifton, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Golden Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Glenn Ford and Rev. Ray Dawson will officiate with burial to follow in Lakeview Baptist Church Cemetery in Cook County. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 9, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Watson was born on December 15, 1928 in Cook County and was the daughter of John D. Yarbrough and Willie Hancock Yarbrough, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Conger. She was retired from Tift Regional Medical Center in Medical Records and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Ms. Watson is survived by her husband, Hubert B. Watson of Tifton; one son, Billy Watson of Tifton; three daughters, Linda Sue Chitwood of Sumner, Clara Lee Taylor of Chula and Candace Godbolt of Waycross; one sister, Nettie Scifers of Jacksonville, Florida; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
