Merrill McMillan, 87, of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Enigma and Tifton, died Sunday, February 4, 2007, at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital in Hinsdale, Illinois. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Jerry Johnson will present a eulogy with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 17, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. McMillan was born on March 4, 1919 in Enigma and was the son of Burrell McMillan and Laura Bell Lynn McMillan, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Norma Barickman McMillan, two brothers and two sisters. Mr. McMillan was retired and had lived in Chicago since 1946. He graduated from Tifton High School in May of 1946, returning to school after serving in the United States Army from September 1939 through July 1945 and finished his last two years of high school in one year.
Mr. McMillan is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael McMillan of Chicago, Illinois, Donald McMillan of Chicago, Illinois, and Bruce and JoAnn McMillan of Chicago, Illinois; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Marvin McCreary of Chicago, Illinois; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Leroy and Charlotte McMillan of Tifton, and Donald McMillan of Tifton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Johnson of Tifton, and Myrtice Jackson of Jacksonville, Florida; and three grandchildren, Crystal Cleveland, Rachel McCreary and Melissa McMillan.
