Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Elinor T. (McDonald) Haines, age 77, a resident of Tewksbury for over 50 years, died Monday, February 5, 2007 at the Lowell General Hospital.
She was the wife of retired Tewksbury Police Inspector, Robert A. Haines, who died December 21, 1992.
Born in Lowell on January 31, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Nellie (Warhurst) McDonald.
Mrs. Haines was raised in Lowell.
She attended the former Sacred Heart School and was graduated from Lowell High School in 1948.
Prior to her retirement in 2002, she was employed as an aid at the Tewksbury Public Library, where she worked for 19 years.
Mrs. Haines was a communicant of St. William’s Church of Tewksbury, and was a former member of the Ladies Sodality.
According to her children, she enjoyed reading and traveling.
She is survived by one son; Robert A. Haines, Jr. of Lowell; three daughters; Marsha J. Haines of Tewksbury, Karen A. Metros and her husband Paul of Dracut and Paula Haines of Lowell; one granddaughter; Casey A. Haines of Billerica; one sister; Mary V. Spiller and her husband Robert of Brooksville, FL; one brother; Wilfred “Mac” McDonald of Pinellas Park, FL; her cousin; Donna Haines of Tewksbury; also many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Haines was the sister of the late Sylvia O’Neil and Marion Chiarenza.
Calling hours Thursday, February 8th, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Friday, February 9th, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Oblate Novitiate, 486 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 are requested.
