William P. Campbell, Jr., 80, of Venice, FL died February 6, 2007 at Our Lady's Haven after a long illness.
He was the husband of the late Norma L. (Corriera) Campbell.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late William P. and Helen L. (Myrick) Campbell, he lived in Mattapoisett 20 years before moving to Venice, 22 years ago, summering in Sandwich, MA for the last 35 years.
Mr. Campbell was a communicant and involved in both of his churches, St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett and Epiphany Chapel in Venice.
He was formerly employed as a teacher and guidance councilor for 25 years in many local schools including Peebles School, Campbell School and Stone School, all of Otis Air Force Base, Westport High School, Upper Cape Cod Regional Vocational High School and Old Rochester Regional High School until retirement.
Mr. Campbell was a graduate of Bridgewater State College and later received his masters degree in education.
He was an avid golfer and tennis player.
Mr. Campbell served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was the recipient of the Asiatic - Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with 2 battle stars,the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 battle star and the World War II Victory Medal.
Survivors include his daughter, Marsha G. Blouin of Mattapoisett; a son, P. Scott Campbell of Cotuit; a sister, Ethel Potter of Boca Raton, FL; grandchildren including Lizabeth C. Blouin and Douglas M. Blouin; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett Friday, February 9th at 10 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church at 11 AM. Visiting hours Thursday, February 8th from 4-8 PM.
