Salem, NH – Gertrude E. (Lawton) Devaney, 89, died Saturday February 3, 2007 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center.
Born July 2, 1917 in Methuen, Ma. Gertrude was a graduate of the Essex Agricultural School in Danvers. For more than 20 years Mrs. Devaney had been employed with the Raytheon, Co. in Andover and Burlington before retiring in 1982.
According to her family she enjoyed painting, reading, vacationing in Vermont and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Devaney was the widow of Joseph F. Devaney, and is survived by three son’s Robert A. & his wife Nicole Devaney of Windham, NH, Joseph F. Devaney Jr, of Salem, NH, and Stephen J. Devan & his wife Irma of Methuen,
1 sister Virginia Murray and husband Thomas of VA.
1 brother Thomas Lawton of Methuen.
7 grandchildren, 6 greatgrandchildren 1 great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: in lieu of flowers memorial can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Massachusetts Chapter 495 Old Connecticut Path Suite 220, Framingham, MA. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
