Laconia-Germaine B. Cushing of 53 Rowell Street on Tuesday morning, February 6, 2007 after a brief illness.
Born in Laconia Germaine was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Mary (Morin) Smith.
Prior to her retirement, Germaine was employed for over 40 years by the former Scott & Williams Company as an inspector. She was a prior Ward 5 Supervisor for the City of Laconia. Germaine was a talented craftsperson who often volunteered her knitting skills making hundreds of pairs of mittens for church fund-raising events. She was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church and resident of Laconia. Germaine was an independent woman with a delightful sense of humor who was greatly loved by her family and friends.
Germaine is predeceased by her husband, Raymond L. Cushing who died in 1979, her sister Doris Audet, and five brothers, Pete, Roland, Oliva, Red, and Jack Smith.
Germaine is survived by three children, Eileen Russilillo and her husband Jim, and Barbara Cushing-Moore all of Laconia, and Michael Cushing of Tilton. Four grandchildren, Rose Stevens and her husband Spencer of Camp Hill, PA, Rachael Cushing of Oak Island, NC, Noah Cushing and his wife Kristen of Boston, MA, and Emily Troutman and her husband Jeff of Avon, CT. Two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Gage Stevens of Camp Hill, PA. Two sisters, Charlotte Toutaint of Laconia, and Jacqueline Brasley of Avon Park, FL, and Gilford, NH. Several nieces and nephews also survive Germaine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will was celebrated Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue Laconia at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Adrien R. Longchamps pastor of the church celebrated the mass. There were no visiting hours. Family and friends were invited to attend. Spring burial will take place in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia.
