SALEM - Rebecca E. (Ferguson) Walsh, 102, of Salem, wife of the late James R. Walsh, died Sunday, February 4, 2007 at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home, Salem, following a brief illness.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Lily S. (Heylingberg) Ferguson and was a graduate of Essex Agricultural & Technical Institute where she was active in the Alumni Association for many years.
Prior to her retirement in 1969, she was employed at Parker Bros. in Salem for many years.
Mrs. Walsh was a resident of Salem since 1954 and was a lifelong communicant of St. Thomas The Apostle Parish. She was a member of the Guild of the Infant Savior of Catholic Charities.
She is survived by one daughter & son-in-law, Cheryl & Richard J. Opolski of Salem, 3 grandchildren, Jennifer E. & her husband, Elvis DelVillar of Derry, NH, Matthew J. Opolski of Wakefield, Megan K. Opolski of Salem and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Francis Ferguson, Rodman Ferguson, Edward Ferguson and Dorothy Bourque.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the St. Thomas The Apostle Church, Route 114, Salem, at the Peabody line. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4 to 8 pm. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
