Obituary

Ambrose F. Whalley, 91, of Dartmouth, died Sunday February 4, 2007 at Taber Street Nursing Home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Marion E. (Lackie) Whalley; they had been married for 65 years.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Albert E. and Ethel L. (Henry) Whalley, he lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth most of his life.

He was a member of Smith Mills Congregational Church, where he was an elder deacon and member of the church choir.

Mr. Whalley was formerly employed as a physical therapist aide at St. Luke's Hospital for 20 years. He had also been the proprietor of Whalley's Rest Home in Acushnet.

He was a volunteer at Dartmouth Council on Aging and was active in church activities. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

His family would like to thank his extended family at Taber Street Nursing Home.

Survivors include a son, Wayne F. Whalley and his wife Patricia of Dartmouth; a daughter, Donna L. Hebert and her husband Paul Erickson of Dartmouth; a sister, Vivian H. Whalley of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Patricia Livesey and her husband Scott, and Christopher Hebert and his fiancée Lynne Gomes; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob, and Brendan Livesey; a nephew, Charles Adams; a cousin, Charles Mills; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late June Adams.

His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10 AM in the Smith Mills Congregational Church, 11 Anderson Way, Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery.
