Natalie N. (Gelfand) Remis, a Winthrop resident for over 50 years, died peacefully at home on Sunday, February 4, 2007. She was 82 years old.
Born in Claremont, N.H. on June 1, 1924, the daughter of the late Isaac & Anne (Senoff) Gelfand, Natalie was raised & educated in Claremont, graduating from Stevens High School in 1941. She went on to study at the Hickock Secretarial School in Boston. Natalie married the late Seymour R. Remis & together they owned & operated numerous restaurants throughout the greater Boston area. Natalie was also employed as a Bookeeper. She was a member of Hadassah & the Winthrop Senior Center. Natalie enjoyed playing cards & visiting Foxwoods.
Natalie is survived by her daughter, Leslie Remis of Winthrop; her son, Ronald C. Remis & his wife Kathy of Camarillo, CA; her grandchildren, Seth & Katie Remis; her brother, Marshall Gelfand of Palm Springs, CA; her sister, Edith Takiff of Pembroke Pines, FL; & many nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave. CHELSEA on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Jewish Community Center Cemetery in Danvers. Memorial observance will be held at Natalie’s late residence through Thursday.
