Wendel R. Harrington, 79, of East Bridgewater, husband of 45 years to Emily (Ortenzi) died on Feb. 3, 2007 at Caritas St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boston.
Born in Carroll, Ohio, he was the son of the late Fred & Bess (Swisher) Harrington.
A veteran of 22 years, having served with the National Guard, U.S. Air Force, & retiring from the U.S. Navy as a Flight captain of the USSS Valley Forge.
After his retirement, he attended Franklin Institute to become an oil burner technician. He worked for Forni Bros, Nightingales, Scudder Oil & Brockton Ice & Coal.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 91 in E. Bridgewater, and the VFW in Bridgewater. He was an active member of the East Bridgewater Standish Gun Club.
In addition to his wife, he was the father of Wendy L. Harrington, Diane (Abati) Warkel & her husband Stanley, David P. Abati & his wife Gail & Stephen D., Abati & his wife Cheryl, all of East Bridgewater. Grandfather of Kerry Curnow & her husband Walter, Michael & David Kennedy, Stacey, Stephanie, & Stephen Abati & his wife Julie, Mark Holyoke & his wife Colleen, & Nicole Boulter & her husband Mark. Loving Papa to Meghan, Patrick, Caroline, Jonathon, Christopher, Sophia, Kyle, Kasey, Ryan, & Tyler. Brother of his late twin, Kenneth, & Robert, & Helen Devore.
