PATRICIA (HOBBS) MEIGS, age 80, a Hingham resident for the past 20 years, formerly of Westboro, MA, died on Saturday, Feb 3rd, 2007 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Mrs. Meigs was born and raised in Chestnut Hill and was the daughter-in-law of Dr. Joe V. Meigs, the first Chief of Staff of The Vincent Memorial Hospital in Boston. In 1986 she became a member of The Vincent Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees and in 1991 became clerk of the board. She also held the position of co-chairman of the hospital Ethics Committee. In addition, she was an active member of The Vincent Memorial Hospital Board of Managers and the Vincent Club, both of Boston. These charitable organizations are dedicated to womens' health and are a division of the Massachusetts General Hospital, both very dear to her heart. Mrs. Meigs was also an active member of the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Hingham where she was the recorder of funds and served as the bridal assistant. She was also an avid participant in The Chilton Club of Boston, The Garden Club of Hingham, The Hingham Yacht Club and the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild. Mrs. Meigs was an avid needlepointer, gardner and lover of gourmet food. She loved life, her family and friends.
She leaves her husband of 38 years, Wallace Meigs of Hingham. She was the loving mother to Joe V. and Susan Meigs of Wheat Ridge, CO, Rebecca W. Meigs of Cranston, RI, Stephen R. and S. Leigh Meigs of Durango, CO, Sarah P. Meigs of Medway, MA and Thomas M. and Sue Meigs of W. Hartford, CT. Loving grandmother of Alec Meigs-Rives, Madeline Meigs, Jackson Meigs, Sarah E. Meigs and Matthew Meigs. She is also survived by her loving sister, Mary Rauscher, many nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 10th at 2 PM at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 172 Main St., Hingham, MA 02043.
