SHREWSBURY-Charles Demarky, 78, of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully Sunday, February 4th, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Ethel (Lekas) Demarky; his daughter, Georgia wife of Glenn Anderson of Jefferson; three grandchildren Alexis Anderson and her fiancé Ed Pappas of New Hope, PA, Vanessa Anderson of Worcester and Gregory Anderson of Jefferson. He also leaves his loving brother, Nicholas and his wife Androniki Demake of Worcester; brothers and sisters in law George Pantos of Freeville, NY, Christopher and Lee Lekas, and Matthew and Helen Panagiotou all of Worcester and several nephews, nieces and cousins. His sister Eva Pantos predeceased him.
Charlie was born in Newburyport, the son of James and Georgia (Kouroupis) Demake and had lived in Shrewsbury for over 50 years. Mr. Demarky was a World War 2 Navy veteran, serving as a submarine crew member. He was employed by Table Talk Pies for over 40 years and spent his retirement enjoying his grandchildren and wintering in Florida. Charlie especially enjoyed breakfast with family and friends, the Patriots and Red Sox and attending his grandchildren’s school and sporting events. His family and friends were the center of his life. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Order of AHEPA.
The funeral is Thursday, February 8th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, February 7th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
