Obituary

BEVERLY - Stella (Nalesnik) Sweeney, 82, of Beverly, formerly of Salem, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007, in the Whidden Memorial Hospital, Everett, following a brief illness.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late George and Teresa (Bik) Nalesnik and was a graduate and active member of Salem High School class of 1941.

A Marine Corps veteran of WWII, she held the rank of Sergeant,served from 1944 to 1946 and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Sweeney was employed for 33 years for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Revenue in Boston, where she served as Assistant Chief.

She was a resident of Beverly for over 45 years and was a member of the Polish Russian, Lithuanian American Citizens Club, Danvers.

She is survived by 2 sons, Timothy A. Sweeney of Hood River, Oregon, Neil G. Sweeney of Salem, 1 daughter, Patricia Eileen Colanto of Beverly, 5 grandchildren, Amber Sweeney, Danielle Colanto, Lauren Colanto, Nicholas Colanto, all of Beverly, Jordan Bryant of Hood River, Oregon and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Dr. Walter Nalesnik.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 at 12 pm in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. A visitation will be held Saturday morning from 10 to Noon, prior to the service. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
