Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 10 am. Burial in Coweeset Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours Sunday 1-5 pm. Carl A. Matson, 67 years died unexpectedly Wednesday at New England Medical Center, Boston. He was born, raised and educated in Brockton, a son of late Arthur and Alvira (Makepeace) Matson and remained a life long resident of the city. At the time of his illness he was the proprietor of CA Matson Glass Company in Brockton, a company he founded in 1969. Previously he had been employed as a glazier at Brockton Glass Company.
Mr. Matson enjoyed his summers and weekends at his home in the Cromeesett section of Wareham, where he enjoyed boating and fishing. He also loved finding a good bargain. He was talented in many diverse fields, enjoyed remodeling and completing all facets of the job. Mr. Matson will be remembered for his generosity, giving gifts and his time and talents to others.
He is survived by his wife, D. Jean (Baker) Matson, his five children, Carl A. Matson, Jr. of CA; Teresa L. Matson of Brockton; Erik P. Matson of CA; Robert M. Slade of Falmouth and James M. Slade of Bridgewater, 14 grandchildren, a brother, William Matson of Brockton and a sister, Kristina Lebrocquy of Randolph, an uncle Paul and an aunt, Adeline Perrota both of Brockton and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
